I (Ben) had the opportunity to preach at Eastview Christian Church on 5/25, and was asked to share about our future dreams and plans for a new ministry center on ISU’s campus, reaching beyond to the campuses of Heartland and IWU as well. What a gift to get to share that vision!
Immediately after the service, I had a couple excitedly come to talk with me. They had met in their college days at Illinois State University. Where did they meet? They met at a coffeeshop called the “Inner Ear,” located at the Campus Religious Center in 1974. Our building apparently hosted a small coffeeshop in its early years, and its presence made a huge impact in this couple’s life and faith. And here we are 50 years later looking to lean in to the same values that building had in its beginnings.
What a beautiful thing that this new space we’re creating isn’t new at all. It’s a part of a larger story that our Lord has been writing for a very long time.
